Quiet

Haven't really posted anything because I don't think anyone reads this. Since my last posting I had a large order of root beer float cupcakes. It seems to be one of the favorites. It does taste just like a root beer float, although I admit I have only eaten one in the 6 months I have been making them. It usually takes me a while to taste one. I have my guinea pigs, I mean tasting panel, dp that for me. :)

Xmas was good... didn't really have any xmas orders but a few xmas party's earlier in December. Plus all the gifts of assortments I gave out.

I made the Ande's Candy cupcakes and boy were those yummy. Chocolate mint cupcake with the andes candy pieces baked in topped with chocolate mint butter cream and more candy pieces.

Still waiting on website to be finished. Seems like forever but I am at the mercy of the designer, since it cost me very little.

So still, to see pictures you have to look at the Facebook page. I had started a Myspace for Sacred Cupcake but have deleted it as people are moving away from Myspace, leaving it for the younger crowd. It's easier to keep the Facebook updated since I have a personal account there as well.

Twitter... well still really not into it much because so few care about what I'm doing, lol. The character limit is difficult for me too as I am too long winded.

I guess I can started posting pictures with my entries here, but once again I don't think anyone really reads this so I don't know if I want to go through all the trouble.

Till I have something else to log for my benefit... tata.

Sacred Cupcake's too late for an awesome cupcake giveaway!

Well fooey. I just saw on Twitter a fellow cupcake lover and master holding an awesome contest on her blog. (I didn't know she even had one) :(

It was for a Johnny Cupcake's bag. Oh yes, we know I am torn when it comes to these things... Johnny Cupcake merchandise is everywhere and that turns me off... BUT.. how can I not appreciate someone who started a cupcake apparel craze... and making a cupcake look like a skull and crossbones? Come on... that's almost as en-genius as taking the catholic sacred heart and making IT a cupcake. ;)

Today she is announcing the winner however so I am afraid I most likely am not going to be blessed with the bag... but I am going to leave the link so that if anyone out there reads this they can check out another cupcake lovers blog devoted to the confection.

whoever wins it I hope you cherish it always!

Love sweetly,
Sacred Cupcake

Well another portion of the website is up and running. Wanting the picture gallery up. Excited to see what that looks like when she's done. It's been slow going with the site. I guess it's to be expected when someone is doing it so cheap. The higher paying customers go first I guess.
The "Why Cupcakes?" portion is the newest addition. http://www.sacredcupcake.com/why_cupcakes.html

Now an exploit.. or soon to be I guess is more like it. I honestly do not know if anyone even reads this.. lol. As with any of my blogs it at least will serve as a journal to look back on as time goes on and Sacred Cupcake grows.

This has to do with plain old yellow cake. Out of all the cupcakes I make this has to be the most difficult. Not for flavor or texture, but because I have an old, electric oven that sucks! There is a fine line between done and too brown for my liking. It means disturbing them sooner than I would like to rotate them more than once. Oh how many batches to I have in bags in the freezer just for the family to eat because they didn't meet my approval. Some day I will have a nice oven. Until then I wish everyone just wanted chocolate, or carrot or actually any other flavor I do besides citrus, vanilla or almond. This isn't going to happen though. A plain white or yellow cupcake is very popular. My frosting being one of the main reasons. Not hard as a rock or gritty. Not so sugary it puts you into a diabetic coma. I am happy people like my frosting. Now to get my oven to cooperate!

Why do I bring this up? Because I am about to make another batch of yellow cupcakes and I get a knot in my stomach every time I go through all the trouble of making them only to add them to the freezer graveyard.

Any advice on how to make my life easier in this area would be greatly appreciated. Maybe a different recipe that doesn't brown so easily. Oh, this also doesn't matter what pans I use, whether it be new or old. Also doesn't matter what wrappers I use either. I guess I could cheat and use a brown or black liner for them but that just isn't the look I'm going for.

I'll let you know how today goes. Cross your fingers!

also I would like it to stop snowing now. :)

what to say about cupcakes...

As I am trying to set this blog up I apologize for the massive logo.. lol. I will shrink it soon.

So why am I beginning another blog about cupcakes? Well I have a facebook, a myspace, the website.. twitter.. but all of them I can't really just babble on about my cupcake experiences and such. I have the pictures that I have up on the Facebook page but I thought it would be nice to have a little info about the new flavors and looks as I go along plus the picture. More of a story experience. I also am extremely long-winded and need more space than what they offer.

There are so many blogs and sites devoted to cupcakes that I was hesitant to start a new one. Heck I was hesitant to begin devoting so much time and energy into cupcakes to begin with because of the fact there are so many businesses now devoted to solely cupcakes. I am not one to follow, I tend to want to naturally rebel against what is 'popular' so it was difficult to give in and tell myself 'who cares?'. Much of my interests and likes aren't original as much as I would like them to be, there is truly nothing new under the sun. So I decided it was ok to take something popular and try and make it my own. Everyone does things a little differently so even if there are tons of cupcake lovers and artists out there it doesn't mean that mine will be clones of the others.

I don't consider Sacred Cupcake a 'business' yet, more of a paid hobby. Do people buy them? Yes. However it's more like stopping at an Amish stand where they sell their baked goods just a little more organized and plugged.

So cupcake lovers, here begins yet another devotion to the handheld treats. I will try and make it as entertaining as possible. :)
We'll also see if I continue to have the discipline to experiment and devote the time to my work when it's not a paid order and to continue to write about my experiences.
